BMW’s super coupe!
The new M6 packs 560bhp, can smash 189mph and it comes in a topless version… it’s time to dust off those string-backed driving gloves.
You’ve probably felt the wrath of a BMW 6 series. It’s likely you’ve been sat in outside lane of the M25 and the distinctively aggressive nose has come careering up behind you with its devil-eyes flashing wildly. Well, get ready to make even more rapid lane changes as the disgustingly powerful M version heads to these shores later this year.
The new coupe takes the same bi-turbo 4.4 litre V8 engine from the equally potent M5 but bores it out to produce a meaty 552bhp. Aficionados will have noticed the high-revving V10 of old has been replaced with a smaller, more environmentally-friendly unit but don’t be fooled, this thing can still hit 62mph in an astonishing 4.2 seconds from standstill.
Cool new features include a carbonfibre roof that has been lifted from the race-ready BMW M3 CSL- it looks the business and reduces weight, aids fuel economy and helps to achieve that ludicrously lip-smacking acceleration time. An excellent 10.2 inch screen controls the loaded entertainment system so all those lonely hours spent in the Birchanger Services can be whiled away watching Friends DVDs. But all of this gadgetry comes at a cost… £93, 795 to be precise.
Look out for the discreet M badge on the front grill of this thing when it inevitably flashes you out of the bloody way.
