Top chaps, fast cars, good times

Can you Adam and Eve it?

Vauxhall have only gone and revealed their bizarrely named MINI rival. It might not be the best-titled little car on the road but it’s set to be one of the most stylish

Taking on the Germans has never been a particularly good idea in any arena. You only have to ask the England football team or the bloke you buy a poppy from every year. But Vauxhall think they’re ready to slay BMW’s MINI and have a pop at the Italian’s Fiat 500 while they’re at it.

The Adam (odd name, we know) will hit showrooms in the summer of 2013 and will come with either a 69bhp, 1.2 litre petrol engine or a gruntier 99bhp 1.4 litre offering. These engines might not produce face-melting performance figures but as the nippy Fiat 500 TwinAir recently revealed, you don’t need a big engine to have fun.

Vauxhall big cheeses want this city runaround to put smiles on faces as it zips through busy traffic and impress onlookers with its masses of customisation options (over a million trim and colour combinations, apparently).

The chunky alloys and highly stylised flanks look set to stay in the range topping models and the interior will boast a cool touch screen display with a whole host of web-enabled apps to keep you busy in traffic.

All this and the Adam (we need to stop writing that, it’s freaking us out) should come in under £11,000. Hopefully, for an an extra few quid they’ll change the name, too.
